Chronic Golf Review

Hilton Head Island's Newest Family Fun Activity

By Lindsay Finger, Macaroni Kid Beaufort-Hilton Head Island July 28, 2021

Last weekend, my family and I were hosted by Ashley & Jeff, co-founders of Chronic Golf. After months of building renovations and delays due to COVID-19, I was so excited to be invited to their soft opening.

We reserved the 3 - 4:30 pm slot and since we couldn't find a babysitter last minute, I asked Ashley if it would be okay to bring the kids. Let me disclose that we are a GOLF family. I was expecting to battle my husband for some virtual golf at St. Andrews or Harbour Town, but what we experienced was so much more. Here are the highlights:

More Than Golf
I was pleasantly surprised by how many different games were on the simulator. The technology was easy to use and included a wide variety of options for all interest levels. We played hockey, soccer, basketball and ended with hitting to targets on the driving range.

Zombie Dodgeball is a Hit for ALL Ages
My son kept saying "can we put the scary game on again?!" He's 3... it wasn't scary, just fun. It took me back to elementary school days and ended up being a workout too!

First Class Service
Each bay has a designated ipad where you can order drinks and food. The menu included plenty of wine, beer, liquor and soft drink choices along with a variety of bar food options. The nachos were delicious!

All Equipment Provided
You can bring your own clubs, but they also have equipment to borrow - available for all ages.

Great Air Conditioning
I know this sounds silly, but escaping to an indoor activity in the middle of summer was a breath of fresh air.

COVID Friendly
If you are still on the cautious side, but are ready to get out of the house and have some fun, this is a great activity for you! Each reservation has their own bay and you don't even have to leave your area to get drinks/food. Hand sanitizer stations were placed throughout.

We Watched the Olympics while Golfing
There were plenty of TV's scattered throughout the building so you don't have to miss that game or match you are interested in.

Don't sleep on Chronic Golf. Although they market as a "sports bar," my experience was that this is the ultimate family friendly place.  I have very young kids and although my 3 year old had a great time, he did have his challenges participating in some of the activities. Older kids and teenagers will get the most enjoyment. Even better, plan a kids free night out... They are open until 11 pm!
