Hilton Head Island has been voted the #1 Island in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveler four years in a row. While this is an excellent accomplishment for our little Island, it also brings its challenges. The popularity of Hilton Head Island combined with the travel boom from COVID-19 has made car travel less than enjoyable.
I live and work on the South End and my son is in preschool near the popular tourist attraction of Coligny Beach. Although I have my frustrations getting from A to B, I try to be patient and grateful that I get to call this beautiful place my home!
A couple of years ago, the Town of Hilton Head Island introduced a new trolley system to help elevate congestion on the South End of the Island and provide a public transportation system for locals and visitors. In 2021, the route was expanded to include more mid-island stops. This is a FREE service in 2021 and runs through at least Labor Day.
The service runs 1 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 1 p.m. to Midnight, Fridays and Saturdays, reaching each stop approximately every 30 minutes.
The trolley’s are FUN and convenient. It also adds a kid friendly activity to your day! To learn more about this public transportation or to view the route, visit the Breeze Trolley website here: https://breezetrolley.com/
