Tips and Tricks for a Successful 4th of July

By Alexandrea Carlson Beaufort - Hilton Head Macaroni Kid Publisher June 3, 2019

Fairs, parades, BBQ's, and FIREWORKS! There is so much to do to celebrate the 4th of July. From my family to yours, here are some tips and tricks to help make your 4th is one for the books.

HYDRATE!

July heat in the Lowcountry is no joke. If you plan on going out for the day make sure that you pack enough water. You could also bring Jell-O, diced fruit cups, apple sauce, fruit, and vegetables for a little extra hydration and a yummy snack!

Bring a Friend

Holidays can be hard for some people who don't have anyone to celebrate with. Spread kindness and love to the people you know who could use a friend and bring them along.

 Dress accordingly

Stand out and show off by making your own 4th of July tops. As an added bonus to this, you'll be spending some extra bonding time with the family while letting your kids be creative and display their individuality.

Pup Saftey

Dog's can be sensitive to the loud noises of fireworks. Make sure to keep your dog(s) inside and comfortable. Out of all the holidays, the Fourth of July has the highest rate of dogs getting loose. We know you love them, so take extra precautions to keep them safe.

Sparkler hacks

This sparkler hack has saved the day so many times. This Fourth, stock up on red solo cups. You can poke a hole through the bottom of the cup just big enough for the end of the sparkler to protect little hands.

To avoid any collisions, have the kids draw their own "sparkler area" with chalk in any shape they want, this helps to avoid burns and creates a fun individual area for each kid to have.

Remember Why We Celebrate

Take a moment to remember why we wear red, white, and blue. On this historical holiday, celebrate the people who fought for our independence, and give thanks to those who serve today.
