School is out and the local #SummerReading season has begun! Macaroni Kid has the scoop on all of the best local summer reading programs to keep your kids engaged and learning.
Beaufort County Library- "Every Hero Has A Story"
The Beaufort County Library reading program has something for kids of all ages, from infant through teen. Each participating child will set a reading goal for the summer for the number of books they will challenge themselves to read. Pre-readers and babies will set a goal for the number of books read to them by a caregiver. Participants can pick up their reading logs and register at their local branch, or go online here: beaufortcountylibrary.org/summerreading
Summer Reading Kick-Off Parties will be held on June 6th, 2015 at the following locations:
Beaufort Library- 10:00am -3:00PM
Kids age 4+ can come to make their own Superhero cape and mask and register for the Summer Reading program. For details contact Cat Williams at 843-255-6435.
Hilton Head Library- 11:00am-1:00PM
Kids can come to make their own Superhero cape and mask and register for the Summer Reading program.
Bluffton Library- 1:00PM- 3:00PM
Enjoy Summer Reading Kick-off by enrolling in the super hero training academy.
Lobeco Library 2:00PM- 3:00PM
Kids can come to make their own Superhero mask and identity, then register for the Summer Reading program.
Barnes & Noble- "Imagination's Destination"
The Summer Reading program offered at Barnes & Noble challenges kids in grades K-6 to read 8 books over the summer, and keep a log of their progress. When they have completed the challenge of reading 8 books, they can redeem their reading log for a FREE book from a selected title list available at stores nationwide. Free titles include Pinkilicious Fairy House, by Victoria Kahn, I Funny by James Patterson, Maniac McGhee by Jerry Spinelli and more. Participants can read any 8 books of their choice, from their home collection, the library or new titles if they choose.
