It's not just about fun, though. Music Together helps our children explore their musical potential and sets them on a path to becoming confident music-makers from an early age. It also has incredible benefits for our children's development. Singing and playing music with our kids can energize and calm them, help them with transitions, and bring us closer together. Seriously, have you ever sung your fussy one to sleep? It's like magic!  And did we mention how much easier it is to get them dressed when we turn it into a song?

Plus, research shows that music learning supports children's overall development, from language and social skills to emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.

Don't just take our word for it! We asked two moms to try out Music Together classes and give us their thoughts about the experience.

Real mom reviews

Adina Kayton lives in New York City. She and her 2-year-old daughter took Music Together classes with Miss Joelle at Eastside Westside Music Together in Manhattan.

Kelly Kerr, who lives in Scottsboro, Alabama, took the Music Together classes with Ms. Emily at Music Together Rocket City with her two youngest children, ages 2 and 4.

Adina and Kelly are also Macaroni KID publishers, so we knew we could count on them to offer us their real insights into this program. Here's what they told us:

What was your experience? Were the Music Together classes worth the time and money you put into it?

Kelly: Yes! Allowing my children to play with rhythm, sounds, instruments, and physical movement engaged them fully in each Music Together class and highlighted the freedom and joy of losing yourself in music. The classes were so comfortable, non-judgmental, and very freeing. They just allowed the kids — and me! — to sing, dance and move to the music.

The Music Together classes were a huge plus in our weekly routine. We looked forward to the class, the fun, and our friends each class session. It was a great opportunity for us to bond. We learned songs together and sang them during the day as we drove around doing our errands.

Adina: Absolutely. From the moment we entered the class, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a happy and inclusive experience. The teacher, Miss Joelle, with her infectious enthusiasm and genuine love for music, created a nurturing environment where both children and parents felt comfortable and engaged.

The repertoire of songs was diverse and captivating, ranging from traditional favorites to multicultural tunes specifically created by Music Together experts. This eclectic mix exposed the children in the class to different rhythms, melodies, and languages, broadening their musical horizons and stimulating their auditory senses. The use of props and visual aids further enhanced the learning experience, captivating the attention of even the youngest participants (We even had an infant in the class).

Did you like taking part in the class with your children?

Kelly: Learning beside them was the part I loved the most. Because I was not the parent guiding the activity, I was learning too, and doing it with my child made it feel more relaxed — for us both, I think!

Some of our favorite things were playing with new instruments, dancing with scarves, jumping up and down under the colorful parachute, learning new songs, and making silly noises and sounds to beats!  The repetition of the songs gave my little ones confidence as they remembered the words, movements, and rhythm. I watched as they immersed themselves more and more in each class.

Adina: Yes! What truly stood out was the emphasis on parent-child bonding. The Music Together philosophy recognizes parents' powerful role in their child's musical development. Throughout the class, parents were encouraged to actively join in, sing along, and interact with their children, fostering a sense of connection and creating beautiful moments of shared joy.

The class was thoughtfully structured, incorporating various musical activities, interactive songs, and movement exercises that catered to children of different ages and developmental stages. Whether clapping, dancing, or playing simple instruments, each activity was carefully designed to encourage active participation and promote the love of music.

Were there any unexpected benefits?

Adina: The Music Together class served as a wonderful platform for social interaction. Through group activities and collaborative play, children could engage with their peers, fostering social skills, sharing, and turn-taking in a supportive and friendly setting. It was heartwarming to witness the bonds formed among the children, creating a sense of community among families attending the class.

Kelly: I've noticed how much more musical they are now in our daily lives — they are more on beat with the music, sing and dance with gusto, and ENJOY music more.

Would you recommend the classes to other families?

Kelly: Absolutely! If you have the opportunity to take a Music Together class with your child, 1000% do it! These are the memories that you will have as your baby grows bigger. The songs will bring back these memories of you and your little one laughing, clapping, and singing. It will make your heart happy in years to come — and it is definitely worth that.

Adina: The Music Together class exceeded our expectations. It provided a delightful and enriching musical journey for my child and me. The combination of engaging activities, parent-child bonding, diverse repertoire, and a welcoming atmosphere made it an exceptional experience. I highly recommend Music Together classes to fellow parents seeking a meaningful way to introduce their children to the joy of music and nurture their overall development.

I enjoyed these moments with my daughter tremendously, and I can't thank Music Together enough.
